Focus Bender ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in our iOS application.

Information We Collect

Focus Bender operates with a privacy-first approach. We collect minimal data necessary for the app to function:

Local Data Storage

• Focus session history: Duration, completion status, and timestamps of your focus training sessions
• User preferences: App settings and configurations
• Progress tracking: Level completion and achievement data
• User profile: Your premium status and onboarding completion
• Tasks and achievements: Completed training tasks and earned achievements

Face Data Collection and Use

What Face Data We Collect

Focus Bender uses Apple's ARKit TrueDepth API to track eye gaze direction only. Specifically:

• Real-time eye gaze vectors to detect when you look away from the screen
• Face orientation data necessary for gaze tracking

We do NOT collect:

• Facial recognition data
• Face images or videos
• Biometric identifiers
• Any personally identifiable facial features

How We Use Face Data

Face tracking data is used exclusively for:

• Real-time focus detection: Detecting when your eyes move away from the designated focus area during training sessions
• Immediate feedback: Providing instant visual and audio cues when focus is lost
• Session accuracy: Calculating your focus duration and streak statistics

Face Data Storage and Retention

• Storage location: Face data is processed in real-time on your device only. Zero face data is stored - neither locally nor remotely.
• Retention period: Face data exists only during active training sessions and is immediately discarded after processing each frame (typically < 0.1 seconds).
• No persistent storage: No facial data, images, or biometric information is ever saved to disk or memory beyond immediate processing.

Face Data Sharing

• Third-party sharing: We do NOT share face data with any third parties.
• Server transmission: We do NOT transmit face data to any servers, including our own.
• Analytics: Face data is NOT included in any analytics or tracking systems.

Third-Party Services

Apple StoreKit

We use Apple's StoreKit framework to process subscription purchases. Apple may collect payment information according to their own privacy policy. We do not have access to your payment information.

Apple ARKit

We use Apple's ARKit framework for face tracking. ARKit processes face data locally on your device. Apple does not receive face tracking data from our app.

Google Firebase Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and improve user experience. Firebase collects the following anonymous data:

Events We Track:

• App lifecycle: When you complete onboarding
• Subscription events: When you start a trial or purchase a subscription
• Training sessions: When you start, complete, or fail a focus session (includes level number, duration, and focus streak)
• Paywall interactions: When you view or dismiss the subscription screen
• Purchase actions: When you attempt to restore purchases

User Properties We Track:

• User type: Whether you're using the free or premium version

What We Do NOT Collect:

• No personal identification information (name, email, phone)
• No precise location data
• No face tracking or camera data
• No device identifiers that can identify you personally
• No session recordings or screenshots

Permissions We Request

Camera Access

Why we need it: Focus Bender uses your device's TrueDepth camera to track eye movements and detect when you look away from the screen during focus training sessions.

What we do with it: Camera data is processed in real-time on your device only for focus detection. No photos, videos, or facial recognition data is ever stored or transmitted.

How to control it: You can revoke camera access anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Focus Bender.

Notification Access

Why we need it: To send you optional reminders for focus training sessions and ADHD-friendly prompts.

What we do with it: Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We don't send push notifications from servers or track notification interactions.

How to control it: You can enable/disable notifications in Settings → Focus Bender → Notifications, or directly in the app settings.

Data Security

All locally stored data (session history, settings, progress) is protected by:

• iOS built-in encryption
• Device-level security (Face ID, Touch ID, passcode)
• Apple's sandboxed app environment
• SwiftData's secure storage framework

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: All your data is stored locally and accessible within the app
• Deletion: Delete the app to permanently remove all locally stored data
• Export: Currently not supported, but data remains on your device only

Children's Privacy

Focus Bender does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not collect any personal information or face data beyond real-time processing.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
